2 Peas in a Pod – Podcast

Growing Connections Through Food, Family, and Storytelling 🌿🎙️

For Seniors, Youth, and Families

2 Peas in a Pod is a heartwarming, hands-on program from Kendall Rae’s Green Heart that bridges generations through gardening, storytelling, and shared cultural traditions.

Mission

To unite generations through gardening, storytelling, and cultural exchange, creating shared learning experiences that strengthen families and communities while preserving the wisdom of our elders.

Vision

A community where youth and seniors grow together—learning from one another, celebrating cultural foodways, and cultivating a lasting bond between generations through food, heritage, and heart.

Cultivate Connection: Build meaningful relationships between youth and elders through collaborative gardening and storytelling.

Preserve Cultural Heritage: Record and share stories, recipes, and traditions that highlight community foodways and family history.

Teach Practical Skills: Engage youth in planting, harvesting, podcasting, videography, and digital storytelling.

Empower Voices: Give elders a platform to share their experiences while helping youth develop leadership, media, and communication skills.

Promote Wellness & Community Pride: Encourage healthy living, shared meals, and community building through intergenerational teamwork.

What will you learn and do?

Youth (ages 8–18): Aspiring gardeners, storytellers, and community leaders eager to learn from older generations.

Seniors & Elders: Individuals with gardening experience, cultural recipes, and life stories to share.

Families & Community Members: Those interested in preserving local heritage and connecting across generations.

Home Schoolers & Community Centers: Organizations looking to host intergenerational learning opportunities that blend agriculture, culture, and technology.

Your support helps us turn every garden bed, lesson, and idea into a life-changing experience for our students at Deerwood Academy. Whether you give supplies or sponsor a learning activity, every contribution plants the seeds for stronger minds, healthier bodies, and brighter futures.

We also welcome non-monetary support to help the program flourish. Here’s how you can help in-kind:

Garden Supplies: Soil, seeds, planters, gloves, and garden tools.

Media Equipment: Microphones, cameras, SD cards, lighting kits, or laptops for recording.

Photography and/or Videography Podcast Session Services: These sessions capture powerful intergenerational moments—youth and seniors gardening together, sharing recipes, and recording meaningful conversations about food, family, and culture.

Cultural & Educational Materials: Books, journals, or art supplies for storytelling and design projects.

Event Support: Healthy snacks, refreshments, and volunteer meals for garden sessions or podcast tapings.
