Meet the Green Heart Behind the Dream.
Kendall Rae’s Green Heart is a youth-led nonprofit rooted in Southwest Atlanta, powered by the belief that young people can lead real change in our food systems. Founded by Kendall Rae Johnson—who was inspired by her great grandmother and was persistent on growing. She soon became the little girl who became the youngest certified farmer in Georgia and later, the United States—the organization grew from the inception of her backyard garden in 2019 into a movement of friends wanting to learn from her.
By 2020, Kendall Rae was officially recognized as a young farmer; in 2021, Kendall Rae’s Green Heart was formed to organize her growing work in youth agriculture, school gardens, and community events. Through 2022 and 2023, the organization expanded programs like Kool Kids Grow, youth marketplaces, multigenerational projects, and city partnerships that brought farm tours and workshops to more families and schools.
Today, our mission remains clear: Growing sustainable food networks led by youth. We use gardening, STEAM education, entrepreneurship, and climate-smart farming to help young people understand where their food comes from, care for the land, and step into their roles as farmers, innovators, and community leaders.
